Description of the genus

Rhizome erect, without scales, covered with a mass of persistent winged leaf-bases. Lamina 2-pinnate, with the fertile pinnules borne at the apex; veins free. Fertile pinnules markedly different, namely much narrower, than the sterile pinnules. Sporangia borne in dense clusters on both sides of fertile pinnules.

 

Worldwide: c. 7 species, subcosmopolitan distribution
