Description of the genus
Small delicate terrestrial plants. Rhizome creeping, rhizoma scales narrow brownish. Leaves ± of two kinds, the fertile lamina with fewer and larger segments than the sterile; veins free, ending at or near the margin. Sori covered by the reflexed leaf-margin.
Worldwide: c. 8 species, from NE Africa through Arabia, Iran and India to China, Japan and New Guinea.
