Description of the genus
Rhizome short, suberect with short stoloniferous branches. Fronds dimorphic the fertile overtop the sterile fronds, deeply pinnatifid-pinnate, veins anastomosin. Sori linear, along an interrupted vascular commisure, indusiate.
Derivation of name: Named after S. Doody (1656-1706), a London apothecary and botanist.
