Common name

Description

Rhizome at an angle. Fronds monomorphic, closely spaced, slightly leathery. Stipe dark brown, grooved, base with narrow black scales, over the whole lenght a very short brown tomentum, more or less deciduous. Lamina 2-pinnate (pinnate at the top, with single lower pinna again pinnate), deltoid in outline, c. 30 x 30 cm; segments trapezoid, about 4 cm long, apex obtuse, margin entire, with clearly auriculate upper base, the first pair of lower pinnae only more developed, distinctly lobed or even deeply pinnatifid; veins pinnate; median costa not bordering the lamina; brown when dry; rhachis with same short tomentum as stipe, other surfaces naked. Sori rounded; indusium persistant.
