Description of the genus

Rhizomes widely creeping, rhizome scales slender, hair-like. Fronds scandent, of indeterminate growth, 2-4 pinnate. Pinnaeopposite or alternate, ultimate segments linear to cuneate-flabellate in outline, variously lobed. Stipe and rhachis a bit woody. Sori terminal on single vein, immersed in tissue; indusium joined to the opposed frond lobule forming an involucre, opening outwards.
